One Love, One Mission: Supporting Jamaica's Recovery

One Love, One Mission: Supporting Jamaica's Recovery

Christine Brown Clayton

For twenty years, Unieros has been built on a simple belief: that celebrating our cultural diversity and connecting across differences can help us see our common humanity. We've called it "one love."

In 2010, we organized events and donated to the American Red Cross for Haiti Relief. In 2011, we folded 1,000 cranes to support Japan during its earthquake. In 2022, we partnered with nonprofits to send aid packages to Ukraine.

Now, my homeland of Jamaica has been struck by the worst hurricane in its history.

I'm proud of what Unieros has accomplished over these two decades. But I've learned something important: one love isn't something we create through events alone. It comes from within each of us. It's a choice we make every day.

So I'm not here to tell anyone what to do. My only ask is this: be true to yourself, and be honest and kind to others.

If you're able to support Jamaica's recovery, please consider donating. It will be a long road to rebuild and welcome tourists back, but together we can help:

Interested in volunteer travel to Jamaica? We're organizing a trip to help with rebuilding efforts. Sign up here.

One love.
