Balkan Beat Box concert

Music Without Borderspresented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Millennium Park, expands this year to eight double-bill concerts June 3 through July 22. In its fifth year, the wildy popular free international music series features traditional folk and pop artists from around the globe.

Summer kicks off with the pop, dance, afro and indie sounds of The Very Best featuring Malawian’s Esau Mwamwaya singing in Chichewa, Swahili, Portugese and English, in a without-borders approach to music- making only possible in the 21st century. The Balkan Beat Box opens the night with its Mediterranean-influenced music that incorporates traditions from Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
